You’ve come to the right place to find out about regionalization in Massachusetts!

More and more Massachusetts communities are turning to collaboration and shared services as a way to offer better, more cost-effective programs than they can provide independently. The Massachusetts Association of Regional Planning Agencies (MARPA) has created this site to promote cooperation and foster stronger relationships among the 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts by providing a comprehensive source of information about regionalization.

Whether you are a mayor, a department head or simply an interested citizen, you can find helpful and relevant information here on everything from the basics—What is regionalization, anyhow?––to detailed information on the role you can play in regionalization to current best practices and examples of successful regionalization activities across the Commonwealth.

The four main sections of this website will speed you to the information you seek.

You will also find it helpful to click on the icon below that best represents your position in order to gain an understanding of regionalization from that perspective.
